Legato® Blocks Create Maximum Space at Dunstable Distribution Centre
Elite Precast's Legato® interlocking blocks replaced the originally specified Gabion baskets to build a 220m by 5m retaining wall at a Prologis distribution centre in Dunstable, completed in a 10-day period.

When main contractors Winvic needed to install a large retaining wall, as part of their development of a multi-million 310,000ft² Prologis distribution centre in Dunstable, it was Elite Precast Concrete they turned to.
The project required a 220m long by 5m high retaining wall to be built, with Gabion baskets originally specified to create the wall. However, after careful consideration the Elite Legato® interlocking block system was chosen as this provided a quicker, space saving and overall better value solution. The finished wall consisted of over a thousand 2,400kg Legato® interlocking concrete blocks.
Sub-contractors, PNR Construction took delivery of the Legato® blocks, prepared the groundworks and built the wall over a 10-day period.
Scott McDermott at Winvic commented, "The construction project was particularly time sensitive and the Legato® blocks were the perfect option, not least because they could be delivered and installed within a very short period of time".
